Pontianak Kalimantan Barat Indonesia

It's been a while. It's not because I don't have anything to write about. I have loads of things in my mind that i want to share. The problem is always putting my thoughts into words... my fingers can't seem to keep up with the   pouring ideas.... lol..

After my self proclaim 1 week raya holidays... which is never enough to be spending with families n friends in west malaysia.... we were back in Kuching... and the routine starts all over again. Plus we had a few open houses invites and hosting our own small raya gathering.

After a few plannings, a few cancellations.... we finally took the trip to Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. I have to admit i was quite excited...it's been a while since we were on a trip to anywhere across the border to another country. It was definitely an experience....

We departed from Kuching on Saturday at 7am... we had to leave early because we don't want to be at the border with all the people who took the 7.30 bus to Pontianak. Yeah..there are buses that goes to Pontianak from Kuching and they usually depart at 7.30. If we clash with them we'll be spending unnecessary amount of time in line at the border.

But to drive to Pontianak there's also a few things u have to prepare in terms of documents. Obviously u need to have a passport, then u have to purchase the insurance for your car that can be done at the border ... so u need to bring related documents for that... Apart from that, have a reasonable amount of cash changed to Indonesian Rupiah... and make sure you fill your tank at the nearest petrol station to the border..

We were at the border for about 45 minutes, there's forms to fill for the car insurance and also our passports. If you want to save time you can pay the Indonesian men waiting at the office to help u fill the forms to avoid mistakes and also saves time. Usually people pay them rm 5 for 1 passport.. some of them also offer money exchange.  We did that on our first visit because we just went to the shops near the border but on this particular trip we went to a licensed money changer and mr hubby dealt with the forms himself.

This is our side of the border

this is the Indonesian side...

and the journey continues...
