Rafflesia

Tgk tittle jer dah boleh agak entry ni pasal apa kan...before ni semua org tahu kat Sabah jer boleh jumpa bunga gergasi ni. Now we can also find Rafflesia in Kuching. It is in one of the National Parks in Sarawak ni specifically     in Taman Negara Gunung Gading.

This is so embarrassing. the pic was taken before i decided to start blogging.... note to self next time no need to be in the pic....


Entry to Taman Negara wasn't expensive less than rm5.... rm3 if not mistaken. this was quite sometime ago so i can't quite remember. The staff cum guide showed us the way to the rafflesia... which is a 200metres trail up into the forest.

The guide said we were in luck coz that day was the 2nd day the rafflesia was in full bloom.... Waaaaa masa dengar ni cam ternganga la skit masa tu... Turns out this flower has a life cycle... 1 month it is in a bud stage ... tertutup mcm bola jer n small... 8-9 months it grows but still ball like... after that it blooms for 7 days only. Buat nya masa pegi tu dia tgh duk bulat mcm bola jer... mesti frust....

Sadly that was the only flower in bloom.....still we were grateful sebab dapat jugak tengok with our own eyes...
There's actually a waterfall somewhere at the top of this hill... but it's quite far to walk and considering we were with kids we sattled for the pool at the bottom which the water comes from the water fall... The kids were excited as any kids would be at the mentioned of water, pool or swimming.. With the packed lunch and snack we walk down to the pool n change into swimming attire.

No body else was there so we had the pool to ourselves...tapi air sejuk gilaaaa so they ended up just sitting by the side and they only jump into the water once and just for a few minutes only... plus it rained heavily after this. While waiting for the rain to stop, we finished the food and my son got his nap.

                                 bila perut dah kenyang, mandi dah sudah.... zzzzz lah.... sedap jer tgk dia tido...

That's our trip to Taman Negara Gunung Gading. If ever anyone wants to see the rafflesia, have to make sure when it is in bloom...
